Welcome to my bio! I am a Pakistani-Canadian classical guitarist, clarinetist, and composer. I began my musical journey at seven years old on acoustic guitar. My love for the classical genre began when my teacher introduced classical guitar to me at the age of twelve.
At thirteen, I began learning clarinet alongside guitar, and played in numerous concert band performances, including at Hamilton’s FirstOntario Concert Hall as part of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra’s Adopt-A-School program led by the HPO's composer-in-residence, Abigail Richardson-Schulte. Soon, I found myself with the incredible privilege of being lead clarinetist of my school’s concert band, led by amazing and experienced conductor, Robin Meyer.
Now with a music major in classical guitar from Mohawk College, I have performed on solo guitar, in a guitar quartet, and in guitar and clarinet duos, as well as in Mohawk College’s unique Art Pop Ensemble. Venues include Hamilton Central Library, Hamilton Terryberry Library, McIntyre Performing Arts Centre, and the Art Gallery of Hamilton. In my musical career, I am proud to have been taught by talented guitarists Jelica Mijanović, Emma Rush, and Nigel Pugh.
And so, I continue my musical journey as an up-and-coming classical-experimental composer! My inspirations range from rock, jazz, concert band, orchestral, cinematic, experimental, folk, minimalism, and more – to create works that inspire imagination, explore the universe’s landscapes, and connect with human emotion.
